Iran’s president has rejected a demand from the United States for unconditional surrender, calling the proposal unrealistic while at the same time apologizing to neighboring countries affected by recent Iranian strikes. Masoud Pezeshkian said that a demand made by the U.S. administration for Iran to surrender unconditionally was “a dream that they should take with them to the grave.” The remarks came in a pre-recorded speech broadcast on Iranian state television. His comments followed a statement by Donald Trump, who wrote on the social platform Truth Social that there would be “no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER.” “Such a demand is nothing more than a fantasy,” Pezeshkian said in the televised address. “The idea that Iran would accept unconditional surrender is a dream they should take with them to the grave.” At the same time, the Iranian president issued an apology to neighboring states that had recently been targeted by Iranian attacks, suggesting the incidents may have been the result of internal miscommunication. “I must apologize to neighboring countries that were attacked by Iran, on my own behalf,” Pezeshkian stated. “From now on, they should not strike neighboring states or launch missiles toward them unless we are attacked by those countries. I believe this issue should be resolved through diplomacy.” Pezeshkian added that the country’s leadership council had been in contact with the armed forces regarding the strikes and the broader military situation. His statement was broadcast shortly after renewed attacks early Saturday targeting Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, as tensions across the region continue to escalate. The developments come amid rising fears of a wider regional conflict, with diplomatic efforts and military responses unfolding simultaneously across the Middle East.
